Gematria how to calculate

it

gematria is a system of numerology that uses numbers to reveal relationships between words and ideas. It originated in ancient times, but has been used throughout the ages to explain the hidden meanings behind texts. If you're interested in unlocking the hidden messages within a text, or just exploring what numerical relationships exist between words, then gematria could be a handy tool to have in your toolbox.

So, how does one calculate gematria? There are three main steps involved: calculating each letter's numerical value, summing up the values of all letters in the word, and interpreting the number's meaning.

The first step involves assigning numeric values to each letter of an alphabet. Typically two alphabets are used: the Standard Alphabet, which assigns letter values from 1-9 and 0-9; and the Kabbalistic Alphabet, which assigns letter values from 1-22. The order of letters within these alphabets differs somewhat between languages (English uses A through Z), but they are all based on the same principle that each letter of an alphabet has a numerical equivalent.

The second step is to add up all of the numerical values for each letter in a given word or phrase. To do this simply take each letter's numerical value from one of the two alphabets previously mentioned – adding your total together for one number (the gematria). For example 'love' has a gematria of 52 when using both alphabets as follows: Standard Alphabet (L=3; O=6; V=4; E=5) 6+3+4+5=18 ; Kabbalistic Alphabet (L=30; O=15; V=6; E=5) 30+15+6+5 = 56 …56 + 18 = 74.

Finally it's time to interpret what this number reveals about our original word or phrase. This is where things get interesting as numbers can often reveal deeply profound meanings when looked at through different lenses such as Numerology, dream interpretation and tarot cards etc… To gain further insights into our search it may be worth noting neighbouring numbers too - words with similar meaning may have completely different gematrias depending on their length etc... For example 'God' has a total Gematria of 73 whilst 'Jehovah'has a gematria of 26 - quite different numbers !!
